At Meredith-Dunn School, our goal is to help children with learning differences develop academically, socially and emotionally. We value every child as an individual with their unique strengths, weaknesses and learning patterns. We then personalize each child’s instruction and create an environment rich in learning, growing and confidence-building opportunities.

Prescriptive Instruction for Children with Learning Differences

  • Individualized support plan with priority goals
  • Daily “SOS” curriculum in Self-Advocacy, Study Skills and Organization
  • Holistic approach to learning with focus on multi-sensory learning, arts, music, and movement
  • Small class sizes with master’s level teachers and full-time instructional assistants in every class

Advanced Technology

  • iPads for all students in 1st through 6th grades
  • Chromebooks for all students in 7th and 8th grade

Specialized Reading Programs

  • Wilson Reading System for intensive daily literacy instruction
  • Power reading online to synchronize spoken and printed words to build reading fluency
  • Accelerated reader to foster independent reading success at each child’s prescribed reading level to foster comprehension and critical thinking skills

Language-Based Learning Support

  • Hearbuilder to strengthen listening, memory and comprehension
  • Speech – Language Pathololgists on staff to provide small group and classroom-based receptive and expressive language support
  • Social thinking curriculum to foster support of personal social goals for successful peer interactions, self-regulation, and social-emotional understanding
